| After
months of anticipation, The Smoothie Company first opened its
doors in September 2004. The concept was inspired by a visit
to Melbourne, Australia four years previously where the smoothie
culture was coming into its own. The founders Claire and Lucy
wanted to recreate their experience and share their new found
miraculous hangover cure, so promised to start their own dynamic
smoothie bar in England.
As students at the University of Leeds they were confident
that this up-and-coming city would be the ideal location for
their beginnings. Situated opposite the campus, The Smoothie
Company is now a popular haunt for students and corporates
alike, who enjoy a range of smoothies, paninis, sandwiches,
coffees and cakes, all freshly prepared on site. The company
prides itself on the healthy, fresh taste of its products and
also caters for special dietary needs by providing gluten and
dairy free products.
So successful have been the early stages
that The Smoothie Company is already branching out into corporate
catering and
